SYNOPSIS
image movie

The story begins 400 years ago, on the border between France and Spain, in the coastal region of the French Basque country, Labourd, populated by whale hunters and sailors’ wives.

In 1609, a local dispute caused accusations of witchcraft. Henri IV appointed two men to judge the case … The Labourd trial was one of the most violent and well-argued trial of the great witch-hunts that raged in Europe for over two centuries.

Through a large-scale film aimed at a wide audience, the unprecedented decoding of this affair questions the mechanisms that led to these persecutions, which are still nowadays the subject of much debate among historians.
